Pop Tabs for RMHC in KC!
“Over Spring Break, I was able to take the pop tabs my students have collected this school year to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Kansas City. Mr. Alan Lubert, the Community Relations Manger from RMHC was able to meet with me over Spring Break to collect our pop tabs, and provided me with a tour of their butterfly garden, pop tab storage, and homes where families stay.
It was so neat to be able to see that my 10 students made a difference for those in need! Something so small as a pop tab, can add up and much a huge impact! Every year the RMHC recycles over 16 tons of pop tabs, and then receives funds in order to provide meals and housing for families when their child is sick in the hospital.
My Second Graders were given 2 certificates for the pop tabs they collected. Thank you for encouraging them and helping them at home to collect pop tabs! As I tell my students, “Many hands make light work!” Way to go families!”
